From The Principal

Yirara College welcomes you to our website. We are a secondary Lutheran Boarding College for Aboriginal students from Central and remote areas of Australia. At Yirara, Christ is central to all we do.

Chris has a long history of Indigenous education in both Australia and previously New Zealand. He is very honoured to be able to educate Indigenous students of the Northern Territory and beyond. Chris brings an appreciation of educating in a climate of cultural empathy. He has every confidence that with hard work from students, staff and himself that Yirara will continue to go from strength to strength.

Chris has a strong Christian faith and a strong faith in the skills, ability and determination of humanity to rise above the issues of daily life and bring joy to those whom each of us meet on our journey.

Along with his teaching qualification, Chris has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters of Education degree. He is now in his 33rdyear in Education. He is blessed with 3 children and 6 step children. Chris, while wearing an ever thinning crop of grey hair, loves most sport. Playing anything but bowls is now a challenge.
