Academic School
Academic staff at Yirara College are committed to bridging the gap by providing students with positive educational, social and vocational outcomes.

Programs within the academic school endeavour to:
- Improve literacy outcomes
- Improve numeracy outcomes
- Increase employability skills
- Develop strategies to involve families in student education
- Improve retention, attendance and completion
- Incorporate a culturally inclusive curriculum
As a part of our commitment to improve literacy outcomes all students at Yirara College participate in MacqLit, as explicit and systematic reading intervention program.
Students are placed into small groups based on their current reading ability and work together to improve their reading, writing, listening, speaking and spelling.
The College is split into two schools; a middle school and a senior school.
